A place to call home..

Until the beginning of December, we lived at the Alzugaray-Bird residence which is my dad's place. During that time we would
spend hours looking at websites for places to live, phoning the given phone numbers, only to discover the places had been
taken or that the real thing was little like the description provided in the ad. Philip saw a lot of apartments, which sadly
I could not visit since I was at work, most of which were either too far from work, too small, too expensive, the broker was
too irritating..
Nevertheless, we had a pretty good time. It was nice to be with the family, in the over-heated apartment where it's summer all the time. how good does that sound? It was...

Bruce takes us to Upper Manhattan

Apartment hunting in Sunnyside

We went to Sunnyside (in Queens, on the way to Manhattan) - in the rain -, which is where Bruce works, on Friday morning. He had suggested we look for a place to live in this area. We have found it to be really great, between Manhattan and Marta's job. But will we find what we are looking for?

Before we started checking out the area, we walked Bruce to the school where he works.

Along the way we decided to stop at a great little cafe for a nice cup of hot chocolate. As you can see there is an elevated rail-road line outside, going straight into Manhattan..

MoMA Free Night

Oh yes, it's true. In this wonderful city with a huge amount of museums, most of which have an entrance fee, there are special times and days when you can enjoy the art at no charge... In some places you can pay what you want. The MoMA is such a place. On Friday evenings from 4pm to 8pm, admission is free. You are advised to queue half an hour before hand, but that is hardly a point of complaint. In November, we took advantage of this opportunity, with Bruce and Mayte (Marta's step-mother).
If anybody wants to see a piece of art outside the museum they can do so online (www.moma.org). So, we are giving you a short glimpse of the experience instead of focusing on the ART.
To see all the pictures in the series you can follow this link to our online album.

We met Anthony (a MoMA regular) while waiting in the queue, and we had a great time with him in the museum.

Enjoying a coffee break together (Brucie here).

The building itself is amazing!
