A day with Alison, Pam & the gang

Alison, Marta's sister, has arrived from Angola (Africa), where she works for USAID, and we all spend a looong day together, walking our feet off.

A perfect hot-spicy lunch at Baluchi's on Queens Boulevard. (Ivan doesn't like Indian food and stayed at home. Danny's shooting most of the pictures, so he's nowhere to be seen...)

Bruce (Alison & Marta's dad), his wife Mayte, and Ali

The hat with ears. It saved my life this year in sub-zero temperatures!

One long metro ride to Manhattan

We all watch Bruce's pole-dance

The beauties and the geek.

Aunt Pam arrives!

Our wonderful aunt Pam arrived from California, to spend some time in the cold with us... Oh the fun we will have...

Snow on Solomon's birthday

One of Marta's folks at the house she works in was celebrating his birthday, so I went out into the fresh snow to bring her the camera.

This is the house of Marta's job.

By the next morning, this snow had frozen solid. Very strange feeling walking on snow and not leaving footprints... As long as I don't start multiplying ice-cubes and distributing them to the poor, everything's OK, I guess :)

Walking up to Central Park

We walked up 6th Ave to Central Park to take some wintry pictures. New York is so beautiful in the winter, the crisp sunlight, no clouds, NO RAIN! Contrary to what a couple of our belgian friends have expressed, the sky is very visible in Manhattan, the skyscrapers divide it into huge slabs that reach down to the horizon...

The Chrystler building in the distance.

The little lake is partially frozen. Be sure to follow the link on top to see more pics :)

New York is so full of wonderful architecture...

Exposure

Playing around with exposure times and ISO settings.

Finally!

We've finally got our bookshelf. Spent the evening moving books to-and-fro :) Back there in the left corner is where PhilBY's desk is going to go.

A week-end

We call this "Blyth Potatoes", in homage to the Eupen Blyths :)
